- Apply an area of red oil pastel stick heavily at the top of the tag (near the hole). Use your index finger to lightly rub over the surface to even and spread out the oil pastel. The color will lighten and blend into the surface. Keep adding more red oil pastel till you have the color you want slightly over the top half of the tag.
- Turn the tag around and do the same as #1, but use the blue oil pastel stick and rub with your middle finger. Blend the blue into the red where they intersect to create a red-violet or blue-violet color; continue to blend from the red and blue areas, till you get the color you desire.
- Dip the brush into the Pearl Ex powder; tap the excess into the bottle's cap (less is best - you can always add more); and lightly brush the surface of the tag. The Pearl Ex will add shimmer and seal the surface, so you can add stickers or stamped images.
- Adhere stickers in a pleasing manner around tag, keeping in mind that the left side will have the beige printed paper (see illustration).
- Cut a rectangular piece of scrapbook paper the width of the tag and about 2/3 its length. Tear in a circular movement from the upper left corner of the paper to the lower right corner to add contrast and texture to the piece. Use tape runner to adhere paper to tag, with the lower left corners matching; it will cover some of the sticker edges. Place a gold star sticker over the edge of the paper to add dimension to the surface (see illustration).
- The USA stickers have glitter on them, but this will still work! Use the Aquash crayons to color the letters red and blue, as shown; fill Aquash brush with water, and blend the colors with the brush. When dry, the glitter will show through. Add USA letters to lower left of tag.
- Fold the fibers in half, put the loop down through the hole of the tag, then pull the loose ends through the loop till the Lark's head knot is tight. Finish with invitation copy or guest's name.
